Image on Address Bar

WEB DESIGN

This may seem trivial, but I've been looking to put
a small 16x16 image on my address bar, as it looks
better for the website & easier to identify for customers.

I've looked at a few google videos & the postings offer
slightly conflicting information & I'm more confused now.

Can anyone enlighten me about the best way to create
a small image for our websites & saving it as a favicon ?

Hi Mark:

I use this website to create the favicon: favicon.ico Generator

I then upload the favicon to the root folder of the domain where the index.html or index.php is.

Thanks Linda for posting this link & that should now help me
complete another piece of the jigsaw, I appreciate this information.

There is similar info on you tube, but there is quite alot of
conflicting information as well.

You need to create a favicon and upload it to the root directory of your domain.

If using Wordpress, some themes (Atahualpa) support very
easy changing of the Favicon. Normally you just upload
your icon to your root directory and name it favicon.ico -
you may need to clear your own browser cache to see
if you got it right.

You may need to change the permissions on the file after uploading if it doesnt display.

  I personally second, third and fourth the above 'clear your cache' pointer. Thats usually the main reason it doesn't show for people.
