I just came across this yesterday and thought I would share. Its not incredible like photoshop but if youre strapped for money it certainly is a nice free and FAST header maker.

XHeader

They do need an email but there werent any hoops and junk to jump through.

Thanks for that, as I was looking for something that would make
banner creation easier, as I want to produce some for our websites, as well as new header Idea's for a forthcoming project.

    Cheers

You can actually use XHeader for all types of graphics. Don't tell Paul as I don't think he has realised what a great free editor he has supplied to us.

I use it for headers, banners, ad blocks, buttons, usw.

  • Glad you all like it! I've already toyed around with it a bit and can definitely see it's versatility.

      You are all very welcome!

If you're referring to more templates, then they do give you more templates for free as well. Its just like the first download too... no bs to sift through or offers to sign up for.

Looks like a cool tool but ONLY IF you use Internet Explorer and Windows. No damned use unfortunately if you run a "proper" O/S (Linux or MAc/OS) and compliant web browser i.e. anything EXCEPT IE (which is so inconsistent and non compliant to W3C code it's laughable or would be if it wasn't so shameful ). Pity really.

I may try it in my Windows VM to see if it performs, but I suspect that Gimp will prove a better bet albeit a little more complex & sophisticated.

Thank you for this very nice share, I'm quite impressed by it. It looks like an easy-to-use tool that will do a pretty nice job, without the need for advanced graphics abilities.

It comes loaded with 550 templates, and with an offer to upgrade to another 5000. For a free product I'd say that is pretty good. You can also use it to create your own templates.

So let me get this straight, you are complaining because it's Windows software? I'm a Linux user & lover myself (writing this post using Linux right now) but I happily installed this onto one of my Windows 7 machines and it works as advertised with no spyware. Welcome to the real world, where software developers target the OS that is on 90% of all desktops. Camtasia doesn't run on Linux either - have you written TechSmith a nasty letter about that?

And whats this nonsense about the product "requiring" Internet Explorer anyway? It's a desktop application.

I suspect that as well. This software does not profess to be a replacement for a full-blown graphics utility. Its an application that allows those of us who are not wizards at graphics programs to create attractive banners. And it seems to do it quite well.

Again, it's not a replacement for PhotoShop. It also does not cost 999.00 like PhotoShop CS5 Extended for Windows does. Do you understand the difference?

Again, thanks to the OP for a very nice share!

    Great piece of software!

One feature worth mentioning is the ability to create any sized header so you can create your own banners for using with a CPA or display network like Google AdWords' display network or or an affiliate program.
