Hello, I'm hosting through hostgator.com. It's probably a good idea to registar my domain through a different company, right? Which one do you suggest? I'm probably looking for a .com or .net Thanks, pickoshe |

hi pickshoe, I think GoDaddy would be best. So far I don't suffer from any problem from them. Else you can also join some of the hosting companies which offers free domain name for life along with hosting. |

I use GoDaddy too. Never had any problem with them. And you can easily find coupons on the net which help you to grab a .com for $7.49.

I usually use 123-reg.co.uk because 1) It's UK so for me that's local 2) It constantly has deals going all the time so I have seen .com and .co.uk domains go for peanuts. |

I hate to conflict and thus create confusion for making your decision, but I would REALLY try to stay away from GoDaddy. Namecheap is the way to go, in my opinion. Many will also agree. Then again: to each their own. ![]() Namecheap is a lot "cleaner" in terms of their interface. They also don't try to upsell the hell out of you every page you click on. Namecheap, you find your domain, add to cart and buy. Not opt out of this package and that "special" and THEN order, 6 hops later. Namecheap also offers free WHOIS protection with every new domain purchase. I still have some domains on GoDaddy from when I was unaware of NameCheap that I'm in the process of transferring. Others I plan to let expire. As with everything, just do your due diligence and check around. You're never going to find everyone in agreement, but there are certain concerns that will always show up consistently with any product or service (assuming there are any to be found). -Mike |

I like namecheap. Haven't been using them for long but their customer service is excellent and their prices aren't bad either.

Godaddy is the best, but you can also try Namecheap.com (they offer free privacy protection) and Name.com. I use all three of them

| NEVER USE GODADDY GoDaddy is a service, which you should never use. I am talking about personal experiences and things that I have been told, yes, they offer a good service.. but, there are more negative things that outweigh the positives. It's one of the most user-friendliest, but also most expensive. They sell every little service at additional cost and it's one of the worst sites to buy domains from, because; when you want to flip your site sometime (which always should be an option to have), GoDaddy makes it incredible complicated. Domain registration is medium price, decent. But, you have to purchase additional packages (such as PrivateDomain/WhoisPrivacy, which you'll definately need and want + SSL for a big price at additional cost), this all adds up and makes it very expensive. ---- Go for Domaincheap (.com) for registering domains, it is one of the cheapest out there and has the best price/quality & what you get balance. You get a thrillingly cheap price, free WhoIs Privacy (so other people can't see your address) and free SSL Certificate, which you will definately want to have (this makes a kind of "approval" on your site and helps you rank and gain better trust). Free URL forwarding (which can make your site into a landing page or forward visitors to a CPA or survey). Also, it makes flipping (selling) your domain easy as never before. You also can use this promo code which makes registering a domain even cheaper! Code: USE THIS PROMO CODE UPON YOUR PURCHASE: SNOWNEEDLE |

I would like to support your statement. Please visit nodaddy.com for more information. However, Please make me clear that how domaincheapdotcom is better than internetbsdotnet .In fact ,I do believe internetbs is the best of all other registrars if you consider both price and quality .But I am ready to change my mind if you kindly make me understand how domaincheapdotcom is better than internetbs.net . Hi pickoshe - I have domain names at Go Daddy and NameCheap.com and name cheap is my recommendation and I've had domains at both for a few years. About 50 domains. And some more at some other places. I been moving more over to NameCheap. They have been cheaper and the support has been great. The prices have been cheaper and they issue coupons too. The big difference in price is for privacy. At GoDaddy it's like $9fpr privacy guard and it's handled on another site. Sure they have domain name sales but when it comes time to renew you seldom see a price break. Right now it's $10.69 for a .com and it's $8.99 for privacy. That's $19.68 At NameCheap it's $9.69 for a .com and $0.00 first year privacy and $2.88 after the first year. Big difference. Plus the whois guard (their privacy) is handled right in your account. Not a different site like GD. |

Hi, Netfirms.com are a great choice. They are in Canada so you get extra privacy. Plus WHOIS privacy is free. I find them expensive for hosting but I have all my domains here. Customer support is great and they keep improving their control panel. Cheers Max |

One thing about Godaddy's privacy. I do sometimes purchase domains through their auction so for the first year use Godaddy for domain registration. I also used to use their privacy service until I found that when I sent emails to myself to test the privacy service's admin email redirection not one of them every came through. And no matter how many times I tried to ask their support team I never got it solved... I didn't ever get a reasonable answer at all. Cheers Max |

Namecheap hands down! Use the coupons to get a domain and free Whois protection at about 8$. At present the code is NCSPRING. GoDaddy is cheap, but considering a long term investment, namecheap pays off very well..

I am using an Australian company called Crazy Domains. You can register a dot com domain for AU$9 which today is US$8.25 and dot net AU$7 At the moment I have 100+ domains registered and until recently I used goDaddy which was fine until I had a problem and the service I received left a lot to be desired so it was time for a change. I was never happy with the goDaddy upsell that I had to wade through every time I visited their site but they came highly recommended and I never took the time to look elsewhere. Then when I was compelled to find another registrar I compared several and came up with Crazy domains. Crazy is the opposite to goDaddy no upsell and very easy navigation which suits me fine. The one thing I must mention about this company is their only payment facility is credit card so for anyone who prefers to use pay pal or the like this option may not suit. |

I hold a lot of domains at godaddy and moniker and use them often. No problems with either registrar. If you register with godaddy using coupon code 499domain you will be able to register a domain at $4.99. -Revolves |

Namecheap, since its cheaper with the whois privacy. Just make sure to search for the current month's coupon code so you can get an additional discount. April's coupon code is APRILFUN, gives you an $0.88 discount (total price would be $8.81 for domain with free whois privacy for 1 year). Not really much, but if you're registering a lot of domains it makes a difference. |

Hi, To all those using Godaddy. They are fine until someone accuses you of spam and they then take possession of your domain. It hasn't happened to me but I've heard the stories enough to be very wary. If you use them make sure you read the terms of service very carefully. I used to use them but now use Netfirms. One other thing with Godaddy is their privacy service. You should receive redirected emails through it. I used it when I used to use Godaddy but I never got any emails through for tech or admin contacts and my emails to them went un-answered. Not a good experience overall. I use Netfirms.com now For $9.95 you get a domain and free Whois privacy. You'd pay about $18 for that with Godaddy. Cheers Max |

I recommend using NameCheap just because their system is really user friendly and not cluttered with junk like GoDaddy has when you try to register a domain and they continually upsell all their other products. Namecheap is simple and straight forward. The coupon for NameCheap this month is APRILFUN. Type that in when buying a domain and you'll save 9% Also a great deal for hosting, click through the link here and it'll get you 50% off. It's the hosting company I suggest to all my clients, fantastic support and full access unlimited, with cpanel and a website builder free. |
