Hi, yesterday I sold a website, including hosting and domain.
Now the customer asked me to move domain to his GoDaddy account.
He give me only an e-mail.

How can I transfer the domain from Hostgator to GoDaddy ?
I ask to Customer Care but I received two different answers... and they doesn't work.

Thanks.

I think you'll find the GoDaddy support team much more helpful in this case (not surprising). Try the following links and if you can't get it done contact GoDaddy's support; they will be more than happy to help you out.

If you mean transfering domain name registrar, the client could do it himself very easily through his goddady account. All you'll have to do is approve the transfer once you recive the notification of transfer email.

If the client wants to move the site and hosting from HG to GD, hell I would not recommend this at all, yikes!! It would be like exchanging a BMW for a Lada... ... If GD have cpanel this process could eaily be done as well with a few clicks through cpanel transfer.

    Best regards,

I just sold a site as well, i have it on hostgator and need to transfer to godaddy. The buyer is insisting that all i need is his email address and username to transfer the website.

from my experience i used ftp details, ip address, username and password etc. can someone tell me if this is so and how can it be done with username and email alone?

    thanks

Just make a FULL backup from inside your cpanel, then just download the file and send it to the buyer. HE should be able to restore it from his own cpanel.

Yeah it's pretty easy to do it by yourself as you see above, but for me, things never go as planned heeehee. Just have the support team walk you through and take notes. Then you can study it, know it was done the right way, and then do it yourself next time.

I am a systems engineer and I can accomplish this job. It should take approximately 7-10 days time to transfer domain. If you want me to do your transfer, my pay should be $80. Please let me know if my service is required.

i hope customer care provided correct solution for domain transfer.

it is slow process so wait for some day if you have already completed all procedure.

slow process means:- both service provider authenticate each other for transfer.
