All,
Looking for some advice. I have done research, link wheels, and other things to drive traffic to my page, what I am looking for is what someone would do with this page. I am swimming in information overload , and its killing me as it pertains to this page. I am trying to figure out if I should scrap it, and create a landing/sales/squeeze page as the front page? Should I create opt-in's, should I create blogs, ugh... see the overload?

If I may ask:
How, or what would you do with this page? How to Lose Weight in 2 Weeks

Thank you very much!

Here's my 2cts' worth. I think the idea of asking people to come along with you on your weight-loss journey is a good one. But, you need to consider a couple of things.

Your site LOOKS slick and professional, but READS more personal. You need to go one way or the other.

The reason for doing the About Me page is to make you seem more real to the site visitor. But, if you're going to introduce yourself, you need more than text. You need pictures. A name without a picture seems like it's made up.

    My suggestion:
Revamp the site as a personal blog.
Plaster your pictures all over the place.

If it's not too late, get a couple of good "before" pictures, and make sure to take update shots as you go - maybe weekly - so people can watch your progress. This is the most powerful tool you can use.

If you're using the product you're promoting, be very up front about that. Make the site a living review. Talk about the product. Give people links to buy it & tell them to do it. Do not try to sell more than one product if they both/all do the same thing.

Find a reason for people to give you their contact info. Give something away - some kind of weight loss report; a newsletter; even just an opportunity to get notices about updates to your blog.

Line up complimentary products to promote to your list, so that you can continue to make money on the back end.

That's a start. Hope it helps.

LOL! Just noticed that your user name here is male & the name on the site is female. So... if you're not really Deana, its going to be a little more difficult to use my suggestion. You could still do it if you find someone to be the subject of the site. Maybe pay for their product in return for letting you document their progress.

Actually the person on the site is my wife! She is currently writing a WSO of her weight loss ventures, and will have it done soon. So should I scrap whats on there now? See I have setup a linkwheel that links to each page of that site, that has content on it. Id like to keep the content on it, but maybe do the blog thing as well? How do you think that would work?

How's it working so far? That would be the answer to your question.

I'd either scrap the whole thing, or go with 2 different sites. One would be a straight landing page design. The other would be the blog.

One other thing about the existing site. The text is kind of hard to read. Too bunched up together. I'd try another font.

Well I am getting hits, and comments, but no sales. I am currently using a link to a clickbank product, but will have my own product soon. So I was thinking about trying to do an opt-in type scenario with what is currently there, as I have a free ebook I can give away, or using a link to a sales page from there...

Is it possible to use the same .net domain for both? I have tried setting up a landing page in WP but it is sorta crazy! :-).

The other thing is the keywords.. Every Social site, Blog site, media site are targeting these pages with the keywords on them... I have built a huge network, only to have my page suck! lol...

You're in a super-competitive market. But you're not in a niche, and "the riches are in the niches". Everybody & his brother sell weight loss products. Not as many people sell weight loss products for (as an example) 30-something moms with 2 kids, a busy schedule, a blue mini-van, and asthma. OK, so the example is a little extreme, but if it was real, how much do you think you could charge for your product? Answer: A LOT! Because nobody else has a product targeted that specifically. And how hard do you think it would be to sell? Answer: Not hard at all. If your marketing was that targeted, your traffic would be showing up with money in hand.

If you're getting traffic, but not sales, it's because of one of the following:
      The marketing
      The sales pitch
      The product

      In that order.

Organic traffic is the hardest to develop & convert, unless it is extremely targeted. Your problem is your marketing. You said you've created a huge network. If that's the case, then you're not delivering the right message to the right people. Then, once they get to your site, there's no really obvious call to action. You aren't telling them what to do, and your links aren't obvious.

Is YOUR sales copy congruent with the vendor's, or are you talking about different things? How well does the sales page for the product convert?

As a side note, if you do the blog, I'd spend a lot of time talking (as your wife) about the things that losing the weight will do for me, how I'm going to feel, how I'm going to show off my new body, where I'm going to go now that I was embarrassed to go before (like the beach), what activities I'll be able to do, etc. I wouldn't focus on the mechanics of the weight loss, except in passing.

re: the opt-in. Do not send people who opt in, to a sales page. They want something of value in return for giving you their information.

Google Analytics has the ability to let you split test two different pages using the same URL. That can help you to figure some things out, but you have more fundamental questions to answer before that will really work, I think.

re: keywords. If your keywords are things like weight loss, lose weight, lose weight in 2 weeks, shed the pounds, etc., you need to rethink them. See my 1st paragraph above.

      Good luck!

Wow that is amazing stuff! So right now I am targeting those keywords, but you are thinking that those do not work, and that is great advice. You are really turning on a lightbulb in my head! Can I pay you for some coaching...:-)? I see exactly what you are saying about the niche, my whole thing was that niches were just those things, weight loss, diets, etc... I spent quite a bit on different WSO's and some bootcamps, but have to say that this is probably the best advice so far. So I need to find a market within my niche, right? So the niche would be "weight loss" the micro niche would be something like I am a single mom with 2 kids driving a mini van, and want to fit in a size 5 bikini again.

Not real sure what Split testing is... but will look it up. My main goal is to be able to have a site that people go to, get some free information, then sell an ebook that my wife is writing right now. Thank you a ton!!!!

    Just sent you a PM.

I can see the light from here! Glad to see you're 'getting it.'
Split testing is side-by-side comparison of two or more different things. In this case, we're talking about two web pages. The way it works is that one visitor to a web address is shown one page, the next visitor sees the other. #3 sees the first page, #4 sees the second. And so on. Once you get to the point where you've had enough traffic to see true patterns, you make adjustments to one of your pages, and start again. Or, in some cases, you simply scrap one of the pages & focus on tweaking the one that wins. Going forward, you can test the same page with different headlines, different color schemes, layouts, content, etc.

What's the call to action on the site? At first glance, it seems like an informational site about weight loss, sharing your success story?
