Wordpress help please

I am hoping this is ez and I am just overlooking it.

Is there a way to make the default page in wordpress to be a specific category. I dont want new posts to show up on the default page, but I cannot use a static page either.

    You will have to create a template (sample code found at page linked above) to do what I think you want to do. You will be using a static page just not in the typical way as is default.

    Please consider that you will have to make changes to you wp files so be sure you have a backup just in case
