Best Shopping Cart/Blog Combo

Hello,

Doing some research and need help. This is not a typical internet marketing info project.

I need the best shopping cart/blog combo available on the market. The purpose for the blog is to load it with real articles... no junk... or spun stuff that doesn't make sense. It gives the readers real information and gives the site google love from fresh content.

All the while I can still use adsense and CPA ads related to the content on the page.

The shopping cart has to be a fully functional shopping cart. Real products that can be shipped. (No one here is afraid we might actually have to ship something).

Design must be easy to change... from the entire theme to just the header and everything in between.

I don't know if such a thing really exists as a true combo pack of if we have to use a shopping cart and wordpress. But, I am sure someone on the Warrior forum has done this in the past and can give me some good insight.

Looking to possible outsource if your suggestions make sense.

Thanks

Jim

    Hi Jim,

there is never such thing as the most easy & the best, but options are, epending on your priorities....

    1. Drupal + Ubercart are the most flexible in this matter, but the most expensive in terme of hiring a developer. Hovever, if you find smbody to get you started on it, it is not really that difficult to make changes once the site is set up properly (just as with any CMS...)

    2. Joomla + Virtuemart - easiy to learn to modify, but joomla lacks the multi-categorisation.. aka one article goes into onece category which goes into one section only. A joomla developer is cheaper than drupal, but the extensions needed for extra functionality for blog might make it more expensive.

    3. i heard there are some shop extensions for wordpress, commercial, but never tried them so i don`t know what to say...

and,of course, there are many other goos shopping carts: Magento, Prestashop, OSCommerce, zencart, but these are pretty limited when it comes to do anything else but sell...

    hope it helps

I prefer Ubercart because of the flexibility. I wouldn't recommend extensions for WordPress. Although many seem to enjoy it...I do not.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback. I am familiar with most of the suggestions you have presented and some that you haven't.

I even tried to work with the Eshop theme but it is more for information products, ebooks etc.. and not really an ecommerce software.

I appreciate all the feedback ... because for the first time on Warrior no one criticized me for asking a question .

I can't tell you what I am going to use but I can tell you this:

I have spent the a week fooling with the Templatic Eshop template and have found that the theme is full of bugs. Nothing works like it should.

I went into their forum to see if I could find answers but there are a lot of complaints. The give away should have been when I went looking for Templatic eShop templates for this theme and there were none. I even looked on Templatic's site ... NONE.

Moreover they have a Showcase page where they show custom graphic's that customers have done on all of their themes... Eshop had none. The reason is because as of the writing of this thread... the Theme doesn't work.

    Hope this helps
