You should use custom CMS if you are planning to resale and brand it at a future date.

You should use open source if you are planning to use in only for yourself and you don't plan on reselling a customized copy of your site.

    Hope this helps, thanks!

      One more thing,
if you have the money and the resources that's to say developers you can go for a custom cms.
if you don't have money and probably no developer you can use opensource with its community.
One thing though, big companies now are adopting opensource cms.
      Hope this information will help

Thanks! It's not that i think that using custum cms is a waste of time, but i think that there is no reason to use a custum cms when you can use an open source. Most website companies here in greece use joomla and wordpress, cause they are consisted of one member or two.

I use Joomla in most of my clients website designs. And I would suggest it to anybody who needs a CMS.

But if you create a custom CMS that is specific to your market. Then you could resell it to other business' in your market to pay off any developer cost and make a profit. That is the major difference between the two.

    Thanks

hm i understand your point. But something like that wouldn't work on a small market like greece.
