Hello Everyone,

I just recently changed my website to wordpress and updated all the content, the theme and everything.

Problem is, is that the bounce rate has gone way up and I don't know whats wrong.

I was just wondering if some of you wouldn't might taking the time to look over my site and give me some feedback on some potential things that might be causing visitors to click out of my site?

Do you have a screenshot of what the page used to look like with the lower bounce rate?

Some things I noticed going on the page...

    • What's the point of having the 4 RROD images? That space could be better utilized.
    • The title at the top seems to be competing with the headline.
    • The text on the right is too lengthy and also too small so it may be hard to read.
    • There's nothing about the menu buttons at the top that makes me want to click them.
My advice would be to readjust it so the top grabs their attention and makes them want to go through the rest of the site. Provide easy ways for them to do this if they desire, but don't give such links more real estate than the most important goal: the initial hook. I'd also try to focus what you're saying since you have your personal letter on the right and your sales letter in the middle. The two seem to be in competition.

Yes, absolutely. Here is what the old-site looked like:

I agree with what you covered here and can see some things I can adjust and change.

Thank You very much Christopher this has given me some good insight into some adjustments that can be made.

I would also love to hear from anyone else that has an opinion here

      Thank You

I think its all down to the navigation.

The new design certainly steps up the presentation of the website but youre now also making the user work harder to navigate the site. The old version looks like it had a simpler and ever present navigation on the left whereas the new one has roll overs and menus. Web users are fickle and like things to be easy! The quickest test you could to do test bounce rate is to adjust the new navigation to better reflect the old one and see if things improve.

I actually like the old site better. Easier on the eyes. I don't like sites with dark bg's.

          - The spacing between lines on the new site makes it really difficult to read.
As a reader, I don't know when I'm going to get a break. It looks like run-on text.
          - The menu font is too small compared to the headline.
          - Too much white space above the "Learn the One Repair.."
          - Call to action - what is it? where is it?

Lastly, the keyword phrase, to me, is entirely too long. This doesn't compute for a user within those first 3 seconds when a visitor is deciding if it's worth the effort to read - knowing they'll be sold something at the end.

          Hope this helps.

            Sam,

Thanks for taking the time to look at my site, I really appreciate it.

I think you brought up many valid points that I'm going to get working on right away. :-)

Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by the keyword phrase is too long?
I'm not sure what you mean by keyword phrase, since my keywords for the page are relatively short.

Are you referring to the headline/sub-headline?

            Thanks again!

      Hello mvpsandeep and LivingCovers,

Sadly, I was not the creator of this theme. I got this theme from elegantthemes.com

      Many lovely wordpress themes there.

      Thanks for your feedback.

My immediate reaction is that the fonts are too small, and the scrolling ads at the side were distracting.

Also because the large background image was slow to load I got the impression that something was missing from the site until the image had actually loaded. (the green menu is hard to see until the image is loaded - and your logo relies on it for contrast)

Theres also a large gap between your green menu and the title copy. The title copy probably needs to be placed higher to catch the eye better.

I'd suggest bigger, easier to read fonts and dont rely on a background image loading in order to make the menu text and logo easily readable.

    Hope that helps a bit

I think you should justify your content text, also you could decrease the size of your footer and if you will use much light background I guess it would be better.
