    4.5 terabytes of disk space?
    45 terabytes of traffic?
Are those numbers for real? Seems like overkill to me.
So, the basic question; domain + hosting for $20/yr - sure, that's a good price. How many domains could a person host on that package?

Yeah, only 4.5 terabytes? Why are you skimping on the disk space?

What if I outgrow that plan? How much would it cost to upgrade to 100 terabytes?

The typical hosting companies such as HostMonster, HostGator provide an extensive list of services for about $72/yr.

If you plan on competing with them, can you provide the same services - 24x7 support, 99% uptime, logging, reporting, etc.

Yes, the price is better, but for $6/month and the ability to add multiple domains, plus reliability, I'll stay with Hostmonster.

    That's Def worth the money.
Basically 1/3 off hosting & A free domain.
You could probalby even bring down the space.

I agree with carter. As you said you have New IMrs in mind as target customer, you can think about cutting down disc space. If a newbie got success, then only he will be using more space and all and in that case you can sell him better package.

BTW i am also planning to kick off in IM so if you are gonna offer, i'll be buying for sure.

$20 a year is a good competitive price. But I would want the hosting package to be able to host more than one domain, though. And I don't really care about having a site builder; it's just as easy to build a site using free scripts and it gives you more flexibility than a site builder.

    Hey Bob,

I agree with Aronya ... you need to offer something that separates you from the rest. Hostgator and Hostmonster aren't worried about the people who offer hosting at lower price than they offer because they know that it is overkill anyway. The offer is there to reel them in and get them spending their money with them. Unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth are purely offers to attract the customers. Some websites won't even come close to using anywhere near as much as this. And if they do then you will find that they need to be moved to a dedicated server to handle such loads anyway which will cost them. I would stick to offering something that they cannot offer IM'ers. Don't worry about undercutting other people to get customers. In the end you get what you pay for.

My 2 cents ... take it or leave it

    Regards

    Darren

So, anything open on the offer. Sounds like you got a lot of ideas and I would appreciate the how to video offer. I do have a domain in mind that needs hosting. DO you have any script that would work for affiliate, adsense, forum and autoblogging referring to seo mobile apps. Let's put something together and start this. I would truly appreciate your help.

What about selling a backup service, like Carbonite? They charge $54/mon for unlimited space.

Not sure which area is more saturated from a marketing standoint, web hosting or backup service. You could charge the same $20/mo.

Just a thought. Backup service seems like less maintenance.

Here is what I find really annoying and an enormous waste of time. If it annoys other people and you have a solution then people will arrive.

Steps to setup a wordpress blog
    setup an email account
    setup a database
    Install wordpress
then find a template which works
    then add plugins
then add google settings (analytics, adsense codes, webmaster etc)

I dont know how technical it is to set this up but why not offer a one page installer
I go into my hosting account
Add a website name I have purchased and then go to one page site setup

Its one page where I enter all the details.
    Email address
    Database name etc
    Wordpress settings
Select a wordpress template from a drop down
add codes for google or amazon
have a default plugin package which is the most popular plugins

One Page and everything is done.
Get this working and I will purchase your hosting in a flash

Glad you liked it. I am full of great ideas just dont have enough hours on the clock to realise them all. lol.
Seriously I would be really happy if this was possible.
I use several different hosting accounts and I cannot believe none of them have came out with this yet. On cpanel its painful but not terrible. If you have a godaddy hosting account then this is an absolute nightmare.

Heres hoping you can come up with something.

As a newbie here is what I would want (it has taken me several months of being stalled until I just found a busines partner who will do this stuff for me cause Ican't)

    upload my wordpress
install whatever plugins I need (how would I know what I need I'm a newbie)
show me where to put my affiliate links for adsense, amazon, clickbank etc
set up my email for each domain
set up my 'downlad area' for ebooks and WSOs
set up my paypal - could be 2 or three differnet paypal accounts.

interpret my newbie tech talk to figure out what the hell I am talking about
I don't need lots of bandwidth, just have a couple of blogs and a couple of sites.

I'd even pay more than $20 but would do it monthly, not in one sum. What would it be worth to me? $15 month to not have any tech headaches.
