How do I add a whitebackground to my video?

Hi,

I shoot video in a house thats pretty cramped for space..no white walls and its all cramped up. I've seen pretty cool videos where there is a complete pure white background (artificial) blocking out the real background.

Can you tell me how I should go about adding a WHITE OR BLACK background to my videos digitially?

You could use a Green screen and then use a chromakey effect when you're editing the video on your pc to give you the white background.

You would place the green screen behind you - shoot the video - then once you've uploaded the video to your editing software (sony vegas or adobe premiere etc...) - you would use the chromakey effect to change the green background to white during editing.

note: green screen requires a good amount of lighting to get a good key.

A "White Studio Backdrop" would easily do the job, search on ebay, readily available and really cheap.

  I saw a video on creating transparent background using Adobe After effects. Maybe this is an alternative.
  
  But if you can, going for the Green studio effect (Chroma key) as suggested by the other warriors will be ideal.
