I installed the gocodes plugin on my wordpress site but they aren't working.
I don't know what I am doing wrong. Can anyone help me?

My website is: loan-modification-tips.org: Loan Modification Tips

The banner at the bottom has the gocode but when I click on it I get an Error 404 Page Not Found.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong setting up the gocode? I know the url is correct in the banner. Also any other gocodes I create do the same thing.

I too get the 404 error page.

When I hover on the banner, this is the link that shows up:

    http://loan-modification-tips.org/show/bottom/

Can you explain what "show" and "bottom" are meant to be or where they should lead? or just give us a little more info.

Also, is this an affiliate banner and therefore should it lead to another site where you will get credit for sending the visitor?

Just doing a quick firebug on the page I only saw the above link and the link to the image, seems like there is something missing.

The show in the url is the url trigger I set under settings --> gocodes settings. The bottom is the redirection key I set under Tools --> gocodes. The gocode url is suppose to redirect to my affiliate link. If you click on the square image on the upper right, that is the site that I want the bottom image to go to. I didn't direct link it because I read that using gocodes you can track the clicks and something about google not liking long affiliate links.

I am sorry but I don't have time to look into this more now, just on my way out the door, hopefully someone else will come along and offer advise. However, I would say this, either:

        a) you set up GoCodes incorrectly
        b) GoCodes does not work and
        c) If you can't get it to work, how about trying a plugin called "pretty links" which I know works, I have used it on many sites (the owner I think is a member of the WF) and I think they still have a free version.

Sorry that is not more helpful, good luck

I figured out what the problem was. Apparently gocodes don't work if the permalinks are set to default, the ones that end in ?p=123. So I changed my permalink settings to use month and name and now it works! I have no clue how the permalink has anything to do with gocodes but it does.

I found this out by searching on google and found a question on wordpresses support forum. For some reason I didn't see it the first time I searched. Anyways the post that I found said that it had something to do with gocodes using wordpresses .htaccess which still makes no sense to me.

So if anyone else gets the "Error 404 this page is not found" error when using gocodes just change your permalink settings to something else besides the default.
