I'd go for Photoshop elements, you don't really need the fancy stuff in CS4 (or 5) for logos etc and elements is only about $50. Spend a day learning to use PS and you'll wonder how you ever got along without it ...

    Hope this helps

You can use any graphic editor from PaintShop Pro to Adobe PhotoShop.

gimp is free and with almost all Photoshop capacity.

howevere, Photoshop is the best, and when you learn to use it you will never use any other graphic programm. LIke, begginers usually have tens od small softwares that each do different tricks, but when you have photoshop is the one in all thing. You`ll dump all the others.

for logos... they should be vectorial... try Inkscape. it`s free & the best next thing after Adobe Illustrator & Corel Draw.

For the past five years I've been purchasing PLR products and use Photoshop Elements to mix pieces of the header images and text together. I've also used Armand Morin's Header Generator (Old Stuff) and 123 Header Creator which is cool but you're limited to 750 pixel width.
