I second Arial and Verdana, and here is some justification. Of course, you could go on and on about this - and it certainly deserves care, attention, and research, but if you don't have the time for it, then these are "officially safe" choices!

Tahoma is my favorite font, the most important thing is to make sure that it's readable and web safe font.

Arial and Georgia at least 12px, usually 14px.

I use Georgia a lot when developing websites for older markets, say 45 years plus, and to some institutional websites.

I love the classy style of Georgia.

Arial or Verdana. Verdana is considered easiest to read on a web page because it's a bit wider.

Oh and size will vary depending on the font, use 12pt or 14pt. I think that's 1.0 - 1.2 em

Apart from Arial and Verdana, you may consider Helvetica too.

  • Depends on the theme of the website

If its business / modern or something like that, then i would go with Verdana, or Arial (i normally choose verdana because its wider, and easier to read)

Although if its a slightly more upper class website, then i might use Georgia, it looks good and its still easier to read than times new roman.

My thoughts exactly! Some sites will look amazing with a fancy font like Georgia - but on a modern looking website, it could just look out of place.

    Wingdings? Haha. Just kidding.

It's a toss-up between Verdana and Arial. Calibri is also not bad.
