    Hi,

    Your background seems not catchy.
And your site need some graphics..

Text must be emphasized and arrange it well.
People don't want to see only text.. It will make them lazy to look at your site...

  • This is what i would do:

    1. Change your background, the images do not tile very well, and it generally looks ugly.
    2. Get rid of the border around the website, just leave it so its a white rectange right up to the edge.
    3. Give your white rectangle some padding, maybe? 20px or something.
    4. For a home page you have too much text, either break it up more, or make another page. and use the home page for brief info.
    5. Make your navigation more attractive, at the moment it looks the same as the rest of your site, the only reason i know its the nav is because its at the top.
    6. The whole IP thing at the bottom, 1 its in green and so is the background, 2 its completely pointless. I know where i live.

Thanks for your input ZenKith and CrGeary!

Do you have any suggestions where I can go to get free backgrounds? I really suck at website layout and design. I think I might be color blind too! What 'type' of background should I be looking for?

How would you suggest I 'dress up my navigation'? I guess I could draw up some buttons in Gimp?? I suck at drawing too. Can you recommend a good resource to find buttons?

My previous home page layout was more like you both described with less and more formatted text, more pics, a video etc... My system is so unique though I though it would be better to try to describe it more. I think I also read somewhere that 'long ad copy' was more effective for conversions. I'm pretty sure my conversion rate has gone up since I became more descriptive.

I will implement some of these ideas tonight. Any more input is greatly suggested! Thanks again!

I agree with everything <CrGeary.com/> said, ESPECIALLY about the background - it's just killing the whole thing for me. Good luck!

You should rethink the background a bit.

You're probably wondering why I still have the background up... it's because my fiance drew it for me. I'm going to have to break this to her easy.

Can anybody recommend a good resource for backgrounds? Can anybody recommend a specific background for my site?

      Thanks!

With a border on the site, a bg is not a must. I would create a gradient such as a grey to white, or green to white.

The bg should enhance, but never take away from the main focus of the page. The current bg will not cut it, no matter who designed it.

I agree the background needs to be changed. My eyes are still adjusting after looking at that...

I would recommend a gradient like Sam said. You could also make your page a little wider and go with a solid color for the background. I'd break it to your fiance pretty quickly because the background will cause people to close your webpage if it affects their eyes like it did mine...

      Hi,

In Google search: free web backgrounds and borders

I would suggest going to web developers sites and checking out their portfolios. make notes as to what you like. keep the background simple, too busy and it will detract from the message.

      Good luck.

Yes i agree on the background being distracting and perhaps you could divide the content into columns with sufficient padding for easier readability.

I would search for "free css themes" and use one of the backgrounds from there that you like.

...if you want to make site cute ^^ , well you need go along with the abstract design. basically abstract is the most foundation of all the designs that you saw in other pages. putting abstract make your site simply as the best dynamic theme page design. well try to look for suitable abstract design and try to guess which one of those is suitable for you. thanks
