Editing WP themes:-ecourse/ebook

I apologize beforehand in case this question has been adked before but due the search option being disabled I am not able to search .
Is there any visual editor available to edit WP themes.
Is there any good quality ebook or ecourse available to learn in a structured manner editing WP themes and how much time do you think a person of a little above average intelligence would require to learn it .

    It can be tricky, but if you understand a bit of html and css you should be fine.

    Get a download called Firebug ( google it ) it is a great tool to tell you exactly the line number and code a certain element is using. From there you can edit and change colors, size, images and so on.

      AND PHP, indeed...

      It can also take some time, there's a learning curve. If you have much time that's fine though if you're in a little hurry to build a site then maybe should you outsource it to a professional. I have a turnkey solution, if ever you're interested.

    There are two physical books (gasp!) that I own and are full of great information. I think you might like them if you're interested in expanding your knowledge of Wordpress.

    They are:

    Smashing Wordpress: Beyond the Blog

    Wordpress In Depth

    If you do a search online on eBay or Amazon with just the keyword "wordpress" there are a few others that look somewhat promising.

    A few more book mentions that may help if you really want to learn how to do this yourself...

    Google "wordpress theme design" and you'll find plenty of reading to keep you busy for a long time.

    You'll also find some themes have decent control panels that let you control the look of your site without having to dig into the code. I'm not sure about Thesis, but some WooThemes are great with this and Elegant Themes are beautiful and easy to tweak too.

    Most WordPress themes have some common files like header.php, footer,php etc. It would probably be a good idea for you to start with one of the basic themes included with WordPress and practice on it. Once you get the hang of it you can move on to more complex themes.

      For a pretty simple alteration (meaning if you only want to change the header graphic) stick with the default kubrick theme, download the header image into your graphics software, make your changes (keeping the header the same dimensions of course) re-up and you're done.

      If you're looking for a more heavy duty change then I second the comment above...Artisteer is great for creating your own themes from scratch.
