WordPress BackUp Plugins

Hi All

Just a quick question. Do WP backup plugins backup to the same database as the installation? If so what happens if the database goes down? Do you lose the lot?

    Hi Ste,

    I use a neat little plugin that emails me the up to date database once a week. So if anything happens to my wordpress, I can reupload and be back to where I was a week ago.

    Not only does it backup the core databse, but you have the option to choose additional tables as well. Some plugins add extra tables when you install them.

    It's cools and it works. Warriors if you get a copy, please make a donation to the creator. - just a thought.

      yup, this is what I use too! It's an excellent tool.
      I also use the export tool to download the XML file that contains posts, pages, comments, categories, tags.

        I agree with the janet information because it was the exactness for the backup issue and probably,Actually you could backup your system or manually backup the files Norton ghost could backup the whole system.But if you are going to fix it by some professionals, you can just backup your files and data. Then manually copy them to a external drive

    I use the same plugin Janet uses and it mails me a backup every week to a gmailaddress created especially for that purpose. Besides that I will download the wp-content folder to my computer everytime I make changes to my plugins or themes. With those two things i have everything I need if something goes wrong.

    You may try using backwpup plugin. It is awesome plugin. It can upload your backup in other services too. however, you can get backup in the mail. this is how I take my backup:
    1. daily db backup
    2. weekly full site backup

    i receive the backups in gmail. I delete them as soon as they come. but they are still in Trash. so, google will see i am deleting them . in Trash it will retain for enough days for me to recover . he he.

    I use Backup Buddy which lets you do full backups of your site or database only. I have it mail me the database backup weekly and manually backup and download my site whenever I make major changes. It can save on your server, ftp to somewhere else or email. You can do it manually or on schedule.
