Wordpress WYSIWYG Editor! Holy Cow!

I must say that I love wordpress and everything that it has to offer, from the ease of use (after an initial getting to know it a little) to the fact that google loves it, to the way it allows to create some communication with your audience and heck you can even create landing pages and squeeze pages to tie it all together and really close some sales, but I do have one particular issue.

WYSIWYG!!!

This whole issue with Wordpress editor is totally annoying and really is the downside to their product. Open source of not, it's terrible that a great product like this has a huge hole in it that causes so much grief.

From page breaks that don't work, to formatting, to just basic HTML coding that causes so much time loss and problems.

I'm having a particular problem right now and I've went to the extent of remove my host and re-installing, to then re-installing wordpress to the adding everything again. Same issue, same browser compatibility problem again.

If anyone who knows what's going on and if you have any possible solution without a full redo of a theme, please let me know.

I'm having an issue!!!

Thanks
Mitch

    Try this

    Dean's FCKEditor for WordPress Plugin
    Dean?s FCKEditor for WordPress - a WYSIWYG editor plugin : DEAN LEE:/DEV/BLOG
This is a great plugin that replaces the standard WordPress text editor. It is great for Internet
marketers because it gives you a lot more control in editing text. Some of these features
include easily adding highlighting to text, more font size options, easy line breaks, tables, etc.
This plugin works much like any Word processing software. It is a must for any marketer
building sales pages or sales letters with WordPress.

I've tried that and the editor does nothing. I mean I can't even add bullets...

...although WYSIWYG is powerful resource in order to make your website free to your own likes, its have some disadvantage that the true coding can do. Well try to look forward as site coder of your site. When you create a site, even though there's a way to do, try to get some knowledge about creating and coding of website. At least, you know the basic form and coding a website and you will know it would be a great help in you to be able to customize your own site. Just search for the online tutorial for the basic coding and secrets.

Do particular themes themselves limit the usage of the editor. I have other blogs that don't seem to have this problem. I think its the theme! I like this theme however. Maybe I'll look at the code like you side and maybe do some edits to try and fix it. I wouldn't really know what might be causing it but I might take a stab at it.

    Thanks

The Visual editor does have its limitations and the HTML view is affected by the WordPress filters.

Here's a review of the Raw-HTML plugin that I've used for a while now. If you know HTML this plugin enables you to do whatever you want with your page layouts:

I have tried RAW HTML though with no success. I am stumped with this one. I have contacted who I got the theme from, he says he'll contact the coder to see about it.

    Hi Mitch,

Yeah, I hear 'ya about WP, it's super powerful but it has it's flaws. Complaints like yours and from a lot of other people for different things always go unheard.

For example, my biggest complaint is the auto-draft save feature or whatever it's called. A lot of people have complained about this. I won't explain it, and anyone who knows what I'm taliking about will put the approval on this rant...

    Sorry, back to you.

The wysiwig for WP also needs a lot of improvements. It really isn't wysiwig if you think about it, that's straight un-adulterated non-css writing. Until you publish it, you don't know what it looks like. There are many plugins that mimic the page before publishing, but as you yourself have tried, they aren't fully working.

Here's what I do when I'm making a page or post and need to publish it first to see what it looks like, publish it as a private post first. Look at it, change fonts, colors or whatever before making it public. No one can see it but you.

Learn more about html and write your pages/posts outside of the wyswyg. It's kind of like driving a car that's a stick shift over an automatic.

Yes I do that mostly with any post. My thing is I love the theme I have now, started dabling into the css and php to make it look like I want then I start posting and notice that It won't even allow me to add bullets, then page breaks work on some lines but not on others.

Seems like if I don't add any additional formatting to the text I enter it all looks good, but then I add bold text, H1, H2 fonts and bullets and everything breaks down. Holy crap!

I will hopefully get the developer to look into it. I think its a quickly developed theme so hopefully he's open to work on something soon... otherwise I have to look at something all over again.

You could check into ThemeDreamer if you have Dreamweaver. It's an extension for
Dreamweaver to do wysiwig on a Wordpress theme.
They have a free 15 day trial so you can see if it works for you.
I just got it yesterday so I haven't had a chance to play with it too much yet

I will try that because Im really at a loss as to what to do next, scrap the theme and move on or spend more time trying to figure it out or maybe wait for the programmer to get in touch with me...
