Hi,

I am wondering if you require a hosting package if you want to upload a premium theme of wordpress? I always thought wordpress was free?

Thanks.

Are you talking about the downloadable version of wordpress at wordpress.org or their hosted version at wordpress.com

Either way, the wordpress software itself is free. If you go the wordpress.com route where they host your site for you, it seems you can only use a limited number of preselected themes for free, but I believe if you pay to upgrade you can us whatever themes you like.

The other option is to host it yourself and then you can use whatever premium themes you'd like. Most hosts like hostgator for example offer a 1-click install of wordpress and then it's just a matter of uploading the premium theme you want to use via FTP.

    HTH,

    Steve

Indeed wordpress core application is free. And there are tons of amazing themes available for free as well. But of course there are also as you metion it premium not so free themes. Some are worth it, some not that much. I've seen many free themes that are worth as much as some premium ones.

The best recommendation for a business web site is to get a hosting package indeed. That is really not a big deal nowadays as you can get a powerful hosting package for as low 67.00 for a whole year. websuitehost.com for example.

You could also get a complete turnkey package, for a very low price, like the one I offer in my sig below. That is, you have nothing to do and get everything done for you and a professional site ready, with all the tools you need, in a few days.

    Best regards,

Once again, we will send you BACK to the respective websites in question to find the answers you are looking for.

I believe another user did the same when you asked "Do you need a website to promote Amazon?"

His answer was something to the effect of, "Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and start reading."

A little research goes a long way -- if you are too lazy to do this, then no one can help you -- much less help yourself.

      The Features You'll Love -- WordPress.com

      WordPress › Extend

      WordPress › Support

Not to mention, the other curious thing that you want to make money online with no investment, yet you have purchased -- as stated in your previous posts and threads -- Commission Blueprint 2.0 and Market Samurai -- no cheapies by a long shot. Yet, there are some reputable hosting companies that cost you no more than $50-$100 a year. This is less than those two products -- even separately.

My question is this: What offline business can you think started off with no investment . . .

Why would it be much different online?

I'm not being mean, I'm just saying these are questions that can be answered by searching their sites -- and you don't need to search that long or hard.

If you'd like, PM me, and I'll give you bunch of free stuff to help you along the road to making money. I'll help you make some through free methods -- it doesn't matter.

Just remember, there is no get rich quick or overnight with no work concept that will ever work.

If that is what you are looking for, then you are looking at everything the wrong way.

A challenge you will not reach imho. At some point you will have to invest money whether you want it or not, to be successful.

      Good luck!

Just a guess really, but I think you can do almost anything with a wordpress.com site that you could if you hosted it yourself. Your template choices appear limited, but I don't see why you couldn't modify them if you wanted.

There are all kinds of other options for getting a website together if you want something for free (weebly, wix or google sites to name a few) but most basic web hosting accounts only cost $1 - $2 a week which should be within reach of just about anyone wanting to be in business.

      Cheers

Don't guess!. Limit yourself to facts that you know for sure.
The free hosted blogs at wp.COM are NOT for commercial ventures. Read the TOS! EVERYBODY should read the freaking TOS before posting lots of nonsense...

Nobody can modify anything on a blog at wp.COM. You can pick one of their preloaded themes and you can activate the preloaded plugins if you want. That's it.

Ummm, you might want to re-read their "freaking TOS before posting lots of nonsense" because while they prohibit you from the following...

In addition to AdSense-type ads, please do not use the following services on your blog: sponsored / paid posts including PayPerPost, ReviewMe, and Smorty; affiliate / referral links to the following domains: usercash, clickbank, clickhop, cashrocks, payingcash; clicktrackers (and any similar) and any promotion of the "I made a million on the internet and so can you" type of advertising (i.e. MLM, network marketing, cash gifting, etc.). Paid or sponsored post content is also prohibited. Please check our page on types of blogs for more information about what content is and isn't welcome on WordPress.com.
...they also showcase the types of blogs they host which says in part...

There are many different types of blogs on WordPress.com, and they span over 100 languages. You can browse our tags to get a sense of the topics covered by WordPress.com bloggers, or take a look at these examples of popular blog categories:

Personal: This is the broadest category and includes blogs about personal topics like politics, music, family, travel, health, you name it.

Business: Professionals ranging from realtors to lawyers and stock brokers are using WordPress to share their expertise, and companies have discovered the power of blogs to personally engage with their customers.
So yes, you can't use it for pitching affiliate and other related types of products, but unless I'm blind to it, there's nothing that says you can't use this commercially to sell a product or service of your own.

In case you missed it, they even brag about the sites they host, many of them extremely commercial in nature....

You'd be surprised who's blogging on WordPress.com. We host CNN's Political Ticker; Dow Jones' AllThingsD; NFL; Time Inc's The Page; People Magazine's Style Watch; famous bloggers like Mark Cuban, John Scalzi, and Joy Behar; corporate blogs for Flickr and KROQ; and many more.
So...I'm sorry if you had a bad day and needed to vent a little bit, but there's really no need bite my head off when trying to be of some help to the OP.

          Have a great day!
