Moving from a traditional site to Blog

So, here's what I want to do... get rid of the .html page I setup that has a blog in the /blog directory, and have the blog become the root content.

What I'm thinking...

If I move the content from under the /blog directory, you know, all the wp-content and other folders that exist under the /blog directory, would it work as before, just from the root directory? or are there some settings that need to be changed that get done when a blog is setup, say by Fantistico, that is transparent to the user?

I'm thinking of backing up the entire site to my hard-drive, then trying it, any huge problem with doing this? Am I about to create a paradox that will destroy space and time? meddling with fabric of the universe?

We shall see..

No, it wouldn't. All the paths would be wrong. You could backup the database, install a new WP in root and add your database to that. A quick edit of wp-config.php and you're good.

might be a silly question but... what exactly in the wp-config.php would I have configure? I removed the old installation through Fantastico, and had it install a new installation into the root. I'm now just re-uploading the content that I had backed up from the original directory...
