Hey all,

I just have a (hopefully) basic question, if someone could help me out.

In visiting the websites of dozens of internet marketers, I often see a feature wherein, if I try to x-out or navigate away from the page, a small window pops up that says "Wait! Before you go, click 'Cancel' to receive a $10 discount!", or something to that effect. Then, when you click "cancel", it navigates you to the discount page.

I wanted to know how to do this for my own website. What software, service, or code I need to pull it off. I have asked every person I know and searched the annals of Google to no result.

Does anyone know?

Thank you all so much,
Vince

Search for ExPop by geckotribe. There are probably others out there but this is the one I have encountered the most.

    JavaScript....not difficult at all.

    Pop-up - JavaScript - Source Code | DreamInCode.net.

    Try starting there.

    Thanks for the help, guys!

@Turntwo21, I'm not at all familiar with JavaScript. While I employ it on my website, I am not proficient in coding whatsoever. Do you know where I could learn where to place that code, and how to modify it to suit the purposes of what I'm doing.

Thanks, again, for the help. I'm new to all this and any aid is appreciated.

On a side note, I find those things irritating, I suspect that you will discover that it does not help at all in fact it might hurt your conversions, I have seen these things, before, I would rather click on a link (discreetly tucked away) saying something like "thinking about buying but want a discount then click here" Only someone reading the text and actually thinking about buying would actually click on it, I bet that you would get a much better conversion on that kind of marketing method than the force them into viewing a discount, I mean if they are leaving then your copy has failed.

I never really understood the Gurus using this, because it is an indication that something is wrong, in the copy or the offer,

Just a side bar, and a few thoughts, to consider,

    Have a great day.

I agree with Tim above, neverthetheless what you're looking for exactly is called exitsplash, if ever you'd still want to try it.

I hate them, too, but they DO work. Plus, if the visitor is leaving anyway, you've got nothing to lose by using one. The only way to know for sure is to test a page with an exit pop vs one with the discreet text suggested above.
