Hi all, I have been searching and searching and searching for a website, theme, template, that would allow me to create a portfolio website to my liking.

I am a visual side multimedia designer (kinda newbie), which means i would like to showcase, graphic work, videos, photography and maybe even audio track mixes.

I would like my website to look very new and up to date as well as being dynamic, with fluid menus, moving image banners, sleek video streaming windows etc.

Since im abit usless wwith programming, my CSS and HTML totally suck so I need a simple way to get things done.

Any ideas or suggestions?

There are a few free themes going just now at RichWP in return for an email address. They include ones for showcasing stuff, so might be worth trying out.

I have found a flash website (after much searching) that is close to what I would my website to look like; does anyone know of a Worpress/joomla theme that is similar (visually) and flows in the same way as THIS?

I have not had any luck in finding a theme/template that is as free flowing as this, I am hoping some one else here has

Yes I had a look at Theme Forest, incredible amount of selection over there.

I just have 1 more question regarding these themes/templates.
If get a hold of a free or paid theme/template for wordpress. Is it posible to it things such as adding in other features like slideshows etc or even change the overall colour? Like for example of the theme is red but I want it in blue can I actually do that?

Just an after thought, in case the I want isn't the right colour.

            Short answer: yes.

Longer answer - you'll need to familiarize yourself with wordpress themes a little - and know some html/css.

Ok, I have been searching and searching and searching and have come up with a short list of finalists
Problem is i just can't decide, so I thought I would ask for a little bit of help and advice on this.

              The following are my finalists:

              Elite Force

Complexity - using Demo Styke 4 (top right)

              Display

              Photoworks

My top 2 of these are Display and Complexity, my main aim is to showcase images and video for now and expand into other media later on.
I would to get your oppinions on these, I know it may come down to a matter of taste but from a user point of view im looking for that WOW at first glace.

I would also like to just add, is it possible for me (who has next to no knowledge of programing or HTML/CSS) to put the frontpage immage scroller of "Display" into the front page of "complexity".

Also are moving backgrounds possible in Wordpress?for example instead of using a JPG/GIF/PNG, I use a flash file instead ad have a dynamic background?

There are actually quite a lot available. If you do a quick google search for "WordPress Portfolio themes' there are quite a few free ones that come up.

Especially look for titles on google stating "X amount of free Portfolio Themes" or something similar. You can also have a look at some of the live demos.

Much better than looking in one place as these people tend to spend their time searching the web to find a variety of different styles.

    Good luck with it!

Hi Redneo, my idea was to use a flash bacground too, just a single background but with animations going on

Enterpryzman, I like the look of Titan, thank you for the suggestion

I think I may however I may end up buying both Complexity and Display and try and mix the 2 together if that is even possible

I was also wondering, does it actually matter if the hosts are in UK or outside of UK (Hos that supports wordpress).

I was looking at bluehost and they seem to be pretty dam good.

Up until just a second ago I was all ok with wordpress themes... but now I have seen some reallu cool looking joomla themes.. not cheap ofcourse.

I trying not to go back to square 1 and just sticking with WP, or are there any advantages using Joomla over WP?

Please note that this is for a portfolio website use, where there will be image galleries , video streaming (maybe some HD video too), and interactive applications.

Visually I think any template can pretty much be recreated for either, I just want th ease of putting n a video ready for streaming, or easily upload images onto an image gallery where multiple galleries are available.

My gut feeling is telling me to go with WP, but this is the world of technology and intellect out rules gut feelings.. or am I wrong
