Why is this site not converting?

I have a big problem with a site I made recently...it doesn't convert!!

Seriously!

I send it traffic. It gets about 5-10 visitors per day from ezinearticles.com and SEO results. But zero conversions. And it has been up for right around a month now.

It is promoting a product in the eczema niche. Perhaps I am not doing an effective enough of a presell to get people to buy the product?

Does my site not appear genuine enough?

Should I lengthen the text before my affiliate link to give more info about the product?

Should I give a full review?

Should I scrape it and move on, and try to target a different keyword or keywords?

Please help any way you can, I need to either get this site converting or move on to my next project. Thanks.

How the site will convert when it has adsense ads on top of the page? Visitors will click away happily. Are you having any adsense earnings from that site? That will explain the lack of conversions.

If you are having adsense earnings from that site, remove the adsense code and wait for conversions.

Without looking at your site, I can still say this. Its a numbers game. 5-10 visitors a day is not enough for you to be able to judge properly. Unless you have being sending that many people for several months.
Always good to split test though.

The adsense has only gotten a .6 percent CTR. That leaves a remaining 99.4 percent of my visitors who are clicking on affiliate links or reading articles and should theoretically be showing some signs of movement on my Clickbank account.

Problem is, plenty of hops, but still no conversions. Wondering if it is even worth it to keep this site up.

    Hi Eric

As soon as I clicked on your site, it shouted directory/advertorial at me.

At the top, you have Adsense - you need to have a site that deals with either that OR something else.

Your photo is on the wrong side - have a look here re eye tracking: http://ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com/images/9780321498366/excerpts/EyetrackWebU_06To226.pdf and here Browser Size at what is seen on people's monitors

Your pop up came up long after I would have left your page had I not been looking in order to answer your question.

I would make your home page a static one, and get the benefits right there in the headline and subheads. You can assign your posts to any page, or spread the articles over different, relevant pages.

    1) It looks like an amateur site...not going to give too much of a review in the design area, because it is not as important as what I am about to say...

    2) The site has very little focus.

What I mean is, in order for a user to convert, they have to a) make it to your site in the first place. b) find some post that interest them enough to actually read it (which is tough to do with your text so tight, no/small margins, small line height, etc) c) find some interest in clicking your hard to find and bland affiliate links, d) have an interest in reading another page, and finally d) be convinced enough to actually buy something.

What is it you want users to do? Follow your affiliate link and buy something, right? Well, you wouldn't know it by your page because you are not moving people in that direction at all. From your site, I would say you want them browse through a couple of article titles and click away, and thats it.

Take a look at this site:
How to Cure Eczema | Natural Treatment for Eczema

It is not my site, I just googled and found it. Don't pay much attention to the design/markup because that sucks (things are misaligned, etc, blah) but do note how they have a clear and defined purpose. They give (good?) information and move people to an action, "buy this!".

If you want to build a site to provide lots of good information, and become a resource for folks than do that...if you want to build an affiliate site that exist to push people towards an affiliate product than do that...but don't try and be both.

      Good feedback.

Here's what I'm going to try.

I am switching it back to the old theme.

Then for the home page, I am going to make it a review page. Period. I am trying to be too stealthy as an affiliate, like George Brown in Google Sniper style, but obviously I am not pulling it off.

It works well on another site of mine.
      Taming The Markets

That site looks like a blog that talks about penny stock prophet, but oddly enough, it converts very well for penny stock prophet even though it doesn't have anything on the front page. It mainly just builds a list and sells on the back end.

So here's what I'm doing with the site:

      1. Changing it back to the older, simpler theme with no adsense.

      2. Moving it towards a review site and putting the articles to the side. The article design is obviously not converting, so to hell with it. I need to give people the information they need to BUY! Not browse!

I'll let you all know of any changes in my conversion rates, if anyone cares to check in on this blog again later!

    Quick update:

I am experimenting with a new home page. You can view it here:

    http://www.eczemahomeremedies.net/ho...mahomeremedies

This should give you guys an idea of where I am taking this site. I have been looking around at other affiliates and they have given me enough info to come up with this design. I think it will convert a lot better. Will update this thread if anyone is still paying attention to it by then!

      Actually...yeah!

Although my data is far from liquid enough to tell if I am experiencing a dramatic change in traffic quality, one thing I noticed is that the number of order form impressions has increased significantly from what was previously occurring.

This is probably a good sign.

I will let it roll and see what happens.

        Yes.

I looked at your site though, everything looks fine, all you need is to gain more visitors for now, as 5 - 10 people can be random too.

Personally I would take out your "About Me" Image...

    A) Because what I see a is a low contrast probably, discontent, and casually dressed guy. It will immediately give me the image of an "amateur"
    B) You need to draw more attention to your headlines, Bold them, RED them, and have them make a claim.

When reviewing the products, use bullet points, they are your friends.
