Writer Needs Some Help With Uploading Site Images?

HI - I'm a very non-tech writer who is running into a problem.

I have a site I built with a simple html application. Last week hard drive crashed so had to reinstall program and, of course, lost some files. Lets just say things got all messed up, to use a "technical expression". :-)

Now, when I try to upload new pages to the site, it puts the text up, but not the images.
I've looked in the hosting CP panel at the folder they should be in (I think) and they are not there. I've tried this a few times but nothing shows up. Existing pages are fine.

Any idea what's going on? Appreciate any help.

What is the "simple html application" you are using to manage your website creation & upload?

And secondly, how are the images handled in your "simple html application" - i.e. is there a folder on your computer that your images are stored in that your application manages?

It would be useful to know your application and how it handles your images in order to help find the answer to your problem.

It sounds like (a) the images aren't there at all or (b) they are in the wrong location.

View the page that is missing images, depending upon the browser you use you should have some indication of a missing or broken image. Right click on it and examine the properties - that should give you the path that your code "thinks" it will find that image at. That should help you determine if the answer is (a) or (b).

One other possibility is that you have the image name incorrect or in the wrong case - most systems are case-sensitive.

Thanks all...Leon, the application is called WebPage Maker. It stores the images in a folder called "Images"...Bill, I just did what you suggested and I think I may have figured out what my problem is.

It should be storing the images in a folder called 'images' in the directory for mysite.com
which is an addon domain. Instead, since I re-installed program due to HD crash, it seems to be uploading the images into another 'Image Folder' that is further up the directory tree, so to speak.....so they aren't found when you try to display the site.

So, I just dragged the missing image files over manually in my hosts CPanel and got the webpage to display correctly. ...now I just need to figure out why the built-in ftp function in Webpage Maker is doing that?

EDIT: Let me add this, maybe someone can see if this looks right:
The built in FTP function asks for these fields to be filled in..

    HOST: mysite.com
    PORT: 21
    REMOTE FOLDER: /public_html
    USER NAME: my user name
    PASSWORD: ******
    PASSIVE MODE: Checked

Sounds like you need to go into the settings of WebPage Maker and see if you can nominate the folder that images are uploaded into, or you may need to change the FTP settings of "REMOTE FOLDER: /public_html" to "REMOTE FOLDER: /public_html/(your add on domain folder)/

I have gone through similar problem. I had no other option but to go through google cache before the cache gets updated. So before google updates your site get all the images saved to your computer or you have to find them again from different sites.
