I'm surprised more E-Books dont use video. Possible reasons:

more expensive to produce
tech problems. just another thing to worry about.. some people cant view.
content often isnt conducive to video

What if you have content that would benefit from video and you're not worried about production costs or bandwidth. is there any reason not to have a .pdf with streaming video?
.h264 codec so it can work on an ipad???

    Thats why they are called ebboks :p its meant to have plain text and noting else, if you plan to have text in between videos it becomes like a power point presentation

    I dont agree. Some products like "building a doll house" would benefit from a video.

    Just cause it's named "ebook" is not a reason for avoiding video

    Are there any technical reasons why video should be avoided?

    I think it should be a technical problem. Actually a few days ago, i tried to embed a video in my ebook, but it doesn't work, haha, i can't find it when i read the pdf document.
