    It depends on what you're wanting to create, what your specs are.

    A basic ecommerce site using a standard script like OS Commerce with a little custom graphics work would be pretty inexpensive, maybe a few $1000 at most, depending on what work you can do yourself.

    However, a fully customized site with backend addons like reporting and inventory control would probably cost somewhere between $500K and $1M to develop, perhaps even more. And this doesn't even get into the cost of creative development, photos and sales copy, and server costs.
