Technical HTML/SEO Question

So lets say I have a 3 images aligned at the top of my homepage.

Is it better to put the 3 images in one single image as long as its stays around the same file size?

The reason I ask is because I know when spiders crawl your website they don't even crawl the whole page. I worry if I keep the 3 images as separate images then google will take to much time reading my images and alt tags before it gets down to my unique content.

I figure if I put all three images as one large image (same file size) it would read one solid alt image tag then get to my quality content before possibly leaving that page.

Hope that makes sense...what do you think? Is this something to even worry about?

    I don't think you have anything to lose by making the 3 images into a single one. Since you plan to keep it the same file size, your code will be leaner too.

    If I'm not mistaken..... I don't think google actually like, reads/downloads the image itself... It analyzes the tags, file size, and records the link...? could be wrong, but I don't think there's any need for it to actually access the image to get what the spider needs... Google probably saves it for the whole worldwide data collection and analysis quest anyways though... I'll try to remember to check this one out...

    Yea I wasn't thinking google downloads the image. I guess im just asking will it take google more time to crawl my page before getting to my content?

    And/or is it better to have 3 different alt tags at the top or the 1? Does having 1 image alt tag on a page mean its more valuable then having 3,4, or 5?

      I think its better if you can make it into one image. The code gets leaner and your page speed will be faster. The faster your pages load the happier Google is with your page

      Is better when you use your main keyword or relevant keywords in "alt" and "Title" .That way your website get`s proper seoptimized.

    no matter how much image you have, all u have to do is giving input on alt and title of every images u've upload and with a correct name which is related to the images u have.

      The less images the better. I think google crawler ignores images, but it will improve the speed of loading of your page.

      3 images means 3 requests, 1 image -> 1 request.
      Every request takes at least few houndred miliseconds.

    My suggestion is to use multiple images and optimize it properly.

    You can increase the keyword density to add similar keywords by this way.
