Hi everyone,

Do I need to set up wordpress everytime I add a new domain name to my hosting account?

Am new to wordpress and hostgator. Am just wondering if I have to go through the set up process of wordpress for every site that I build?

As in setting up the server to connect or is it done only once. For example, if I add a new domain name, do I have to do all the setting up process again?

Thanks for your help.

If want your new domain to run WP - yes you need to setup each time your get a new domain.

I've not use gatorhost before but my guess is for the first time, you would need to set up for your hosting and then set up for your domain.

If you want to run WordPress on the new domain, you will have to set it up from scratch again. I have a HostGator account myself!

Your SQL server is automatically setup by HostGator when you join their service. However, every time you want to setup a new domain, you will have to install WordPress fresh if you want to use it. Either that or you could just use a HTML website.

You can switch it to MultiSite which was available in WordPress 3.0
Then use an available domain mapping tool to map the domains to the sites you create in multi site.

In WordPress 3.0 there is now a native ability to create multiple blogs, referred to as a network of sites. This is because the codebase for WordPressMU was merged into core

There's now a new feature in 3.0.1 that will allow you to add multiple domains to one single wordpress back office. Search for Wordpress Super Admin on Google.
