seo friendly navigation

Hi,
I have a web developer helping me with a cms section of my html website, that will be on wordpress. He installed a navigation by treeview . net ....and It is java based. It looks great and makes it very neat and easy for me to list the more than 80 categories on this section of my site, but I am very very concerned as to whether or not it is seo friendly or if there is a way to use it to make it more seo friendly. That was the whole point of me giving him the project; to create an seo friendly cms for my article dept of my html site. please if anyone can offer some advice or comments, i greatly appreciate it.

    First thing to do is to shut off your browsers JavaScript and see if the menu still works.
    This is not necessarily for SEO but for the users as well.
    It should function without JavaScript enabled.
    You should use a menu that is full CSS and JavaScript should just be used for making it smooth or have hover intent, stuff like that.

    As for the actual Links, make sure they have title tags and are filled in.

    Indeed turn off javascript and see what happens. And add your sitemap on Google Webcentral etc. this will also make sure your content will be found by the search-engines. But make sure your internal structure is okay don't depend only on a sitemap it is an extra.

    Yes, and very important for SEO, just as naming images properly and having alt tags on images are important.
