guys,
helping someone out with their site.

its currently not ranking for any keywords but 2.

when looking at the site it is based on a wordpress blog.

but the URL structure seems funny.

it has site url/index.php/blog post title

typically where the blog step should go is the index.php command.

could this be the reason for his problems? a break in the site map

thanks for the help

    Hiya!

You will need to check where you installed wordpress or the theme (which directory)
Have a look in Cpanel. Check the directory or folder

I've been using Wordpress for a long time now, haven't seen this one before. Am happy to take a look for you if you like, pm me.

    Dan,

I will lead you to the first place you should look below, but yes, your permalink structure can have effect on your rankings as the title of your post is what is picked up first by the search engines.

    1-Login to your dashboard

2-Scroll down the page and look for "Settings" on the left hand side

    3-Ckick settings

    4-Click "Permalinks"

5-Look at the structure there and let us know what radio button is highlighted or what is in the custom structure box just below.

What I have found since Google made the changes in May, is that:

    Code:
    /%postname%/
as a custom permalink structure is doing better for me.

thanks guys, just wanted to check.

yes postname is already in there.

i have suggested adding %category% as well to get some extra juice from their

but other than that cant see an issue
