This may be a stupid question, but what does "back end" of a website mean? Where or how do I view the back end of my website?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The back end normally means the admin area of the site where you can change various settings. For a real programmed website you can normally find this at http://www.yourwebsite.com/admin .For a website in Wordpress this changes to http://www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin

    hope this helps

"Back-end" refers to scripts or programs that are executed on the server itself and are independent from the client's PC. For example, a database lookup that returns certain records to the user is a back-end process since the server takes the clients paramters and runs a search on the connected database and only returns the formatted results.

I tried the above address for a real programmed website but it said it was an untrusted connection.

    Depends on the context?

I am assuming someone has told you to do something in the backend of your website?

Do you have any more details on what you are trying to achieve?

In very simple words the back end of a website mean the area from where the admin can manage the complete website. Like changing text, images, adding products, prices and many many more functionality.

just remind that dynamic sites have two parts : front end and back end.
front end is what user views and back end is administrator panel or controls the site.

You can tell from the replies that it means slightly different things depending on who you're talking to. Can you tell us what you're trying to do?
