Subdomain not working

Ok newb here I am using Filezilla and i was just wondering why i keep getting a 403 error when i try to make a subdomain I have copied all my files to the remote site. Oh and my index.html is the same as my subdomain. Basically what I am trying to do is have nothing linked to my domain and just have my entire website based on subdomains, any one know what I am doing wrong?

    The permissions on your subdomain need to be changed to 755. Right click on the subdomain and change the properties.

    Alright done that thanks for that but the subdomain will only work if i put .html at the end is their any way i can avoid doing this
