404 error on "normal" WP install

I´m trying to access the admin panel for my wordpress page but when I type the url it gives me a page not found error.

I went to the hosting account to see if I could get a clue, perhaps the folder had a different name or something ( I´m not very tech savvy), it seems normal.

I ran a search using the search function here but the first few threads were about different errors and I´m a little discouraged. Could anyone please give me a clue as to what´s happening?

    did you do the install via 'fantastico'?

    also what version of wordpress are you using? 3.0.1?
    if so.....what plugins did you use.

    many plugins dont work on some servers depending on the server setup
    or just being incompatible with various wordpress versions

      it´s an old install on a hostgator account. don´t think it´s up to 3.0 although since that specific one i had a friend do for me I cannot quite remember. It has a few plugins

      I believe those are all. They were all tested at the time of install and everything seemed to be working ok. I left that project aside when i went into my fundraising spree for the business. Now i come back and i can´t get in.

      To be hones I don´t remember if I ever got in through the admin panel as the forum test i just logged in through the forum itself as admin.

    PAGE NOT FOUND simply means that your url is not correct. Normally, it will be yoursite.com/wp-admin However, if your friend installed it and changed the admin folder to another name you need to search for it. You need to be logged into your site and look at the folders. In other words, either use Filezilla and look or log into your CPANEL and look at the folder structure. Hope this helps.
