Hi -- I am trying out Photoshop and so far it is working great - however I can't figure out how to do something and really need someone to point me in the right direction. I have an image that contains a logo and I want to insert this into the current template I have that is a psd file and I just can't seem to make this happen. Can someone direct me on how to do this? I have tried to open both files and copy and paste the image into the psd file but this just is not working. Thanks in advance for the help :-) |

Why copy and pasting is not working? What you really want? Did you check on what layer it is pasted? Go to youtube and you will find several photoshop tutorials there. |

Select the image you want to move with the black arrow icon, or use the layer box (click window and show layers) if it won't select. Then just click and hold down the mouse button and drag it over to the other image. If the image is a jpg or something, you may have to figure out how to select JUST the part you want. In which case a tutorial, as recommended above, might be of some help. |

You may need to clip it out of the background. Do this with the magic wand tool. If you do that selecting the background, follow that by select>inverse, then drag the selected logo to the other image. With practice you'll get good at it. Also, use the "Save for web" option if this is going to end up in your website. It will make the image considerably smaller in filesize. |

Hi sblackburn, I'm fairly new to Photoshop too and I had the same problem myself. Until I worked out that it was pasting, but the layer it pasted to was at the back. I just selected the layer in the layer list (probably not the right name) on tghe right hand side of the work area, and moved it to the front, using the menu Layer>Arrange>Bring to Front Hope that's all it takes for you.
