How can I make my website look like this?

I am currently working on putting together a large review site and I wanted to know how I can make the layout of my site look like the one here using Joomla: Product reviews - Electronics reviews, computer reviews & more - CNET Reviews

I'd be willing to give away a $75 adwords voucher if someone would quickly walk me through the steps needed to make my website layout look like this. PM me if you're willing to help...

Thanks in advance

Alex

    Templates?

Even if someone responded to this question, there is not quick way to explain designing pretty much any type of website, let alone one as detailed as the one you want.

I would do as the other guy posted, look for a product review template with PSD files.

Do you really think you can be "walked through" a site design comparable to what a large corporation has?

Yep, definitely best bet is to go with a template and tweak the template.

Two sites come to mind: rockettheme.com (joomla) and templatic.com (wordpress)

The best advice. And for $75, not even cash, don't expect a $$$$ website to be had for $50. A lot of templates look great but you'll need to work with them. Best bargain on the planet is eleganttemplates.com (please use the affiliate link if you like the reference and giving you notice here. )

Honestly... I've been using them for years. Originally they were $20 a year and now $40... which is stupendous. The templates are very good and feature all types of items you want. Others like woo themes exist but I don't find them nearly as useful - very flashy but don't mesh well in real world usage for many reasons.

I like Elegant (it's themes not templates ) but I don't think they have anything similar to the OPs cnet link. But, as slinky says, the price for what you get is truly amazing.

Funny, I've only used Elegant themes a couple times out of those 1-2 years I've been with them. Not sure why. I've used Woo a lot but don't use them as much anymore.

There are so many premium theme providers so it just depends on what you're after. Woo, Studiopress, among others, offer GPL with their themes so technically you can do "more" with them.

All comes down to what you want but the advice in this thread seems to be to choose a theme to save time/money. If you know css/html well enough, you could probably knock out something simliar to cnet just not with all the programming functionality. If you're not a coder (php/asp) then it makes perfect sense to just buy a template.

Here are the steps you requested:

    1. Install Joomla on your web server
    2. Post a project on your favorite Joomla developer's forum
    3. Hire the developer most able to do the project
    4. Pay the developer

Can I collect on the voucher?

In all seriousness - this isn't a quick, easy job. A $75 voucher isn't going to cut it, and if you're not an experienced Joomla developer (which I'm assuming you're not) you're not going to be able to do this yourself in an afternoon.
