I am very "electronically challenged"!
My website [ Lacy Quarter Horses ] is produced on KompoZer.
It is mostly images [100's].
I upload it using Filezilla.
I am attempting to replace some images with new images, add images for the new foals pages & SEO rename my image folder/sub-folder/sub-sub-folder/file names.
I have a very slow dial-up connection so cannot upload these modifications in one sitting.
My operating system is Windows XP.
My structure is:
My Documents Folder: Lacy Quarter Horses
/Images folder; html documents [pages]
/Compressed photo folder; seperate graphic image files [logo ect.]
/Individual horse photo folders
/Horse photo files

I need step-by-step instructions on the best way to accomplish this task.
I'd be so grateful for any help!!!!!!!
Thank you,
Kristi

  • Hi Kristi,

I would love to help you but I'm not exactly sure what you need. Are you trying to rename the files while they're on your computer or are you trying to rename them once you've uploaded them?

To rename your image folder what you want to do is go into the "source" tab and then do an edit->replace and replace all isntances of your old image folder name with your new image folder name. Then rename the folder both on your local hard drive and on your server, then upload the new html file(s). I doubt your image folder name would matter to much from an SEO perspective though...good luck!

        OK...

I need to replace the old 2009 images of my horses with the new 2010 images. At this point I've given up on renaming my image folder/files.

I switched the old image files with the new ones by duplicating the old image file names onto the new image files on my computer. I tried to upload the new image files on Filezilla by opening the local site down to the individual files - same on remote site - and attemtping one by one to overwrite the individual image files. It is not working...I get successful transfers but the images on my website do not change.

        What am I doing wrong?

        Many Thanks,
        Kristi
