Hey guys,

I am have installed wordpress(.org) as a sub-domain on my own hosting account but want to use my website theme rather then one supplied by wordpress.

Is this possible and how can I achieve it?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom!

You've got to upload the theme into your 'themes' folder in the 'wp-content' directory, and then jump into your WordPress admin panel by going to:

    1. subdomain.yourSite.com/wp-admin
    2. Enter your login info
    3. On the left-hand side locate the 'Appearance' tab, click the arrow to open the options list.
    4. Select 'Theme'
    5. Choose the theme you want to use and your done!

For more information you can refer to the official documentation here. Their instructions are much better than mine.

How was your website created? Are you yourself the designer? It's pretty easy to splice up an HTML/CSS design and put it into various PHP files and then use those to create and upload your custom theme. I just did that myself for one of my blogs.

When you check out LovelyCornSyrup's link, the far bottom has the section on Theme Development, which shows you how to do this.

We never use a theme supplied by Wordpress but go and search (use Google) to find one of the thousands of free themes available that suits your needs and then personalize it with our own header graphic, footer graphic, colours of tabs etc. Possibly confusing to start with but you finish up with your own unique blog.

When searching for a theme consider your needs and is it a single column,2column or a 3column site you require?

Dear lord man, never use a web design that comes with wordpress . Try woothemes, they have a couple of really good free templates. Also, checkout weboy.org.. they've got a free section listing all of the free wordpress themes!
