For a static website HTML language is best and creating a dynamic website PHP is best. You can choose any of the programming languages as you like.

PHP is great because of the open source frameworks and open source CMSes based on PHP. PHP is a mature language and is stable and free.

I have always used Komodo Edit , but as I do not like the latest version of that I have switched over to Net-beans with the php plug in. Just can nott beat an IDES when working on complex pieces of software.

I absolutely love HTML and CSS. however I have been recently been exposed to ASP and the whole interaction with databases and I am slowly but surely developing a passion for that as well. Thought HTML and CSS is rather on the basic side of things they are in fact really quite powerful. Maybe not as powerful as scripting languages but still they are on top for me.

HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language. It is what a browser reads in order to display what you actually see on a webpage that you view through Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, or whatever browser you may use. It's a type of code.
