Sites for Clients - They Host, You Unload or What?

Okay, so I have several people who have come to me with website design needs. I have no problem building the site and doing the copy, but I'm not sure whether I would have to host the site for them or require them to purchase it and how it would work...

Pretty sure I should obviously make and build the site plus give consultations about URLs, etc. It's simply a matter of how to get them to purchase their hosting, if necessary.

I would tell them that they should buy their own hosting and help them with setting it up. it will be much better if they have their own hosting because it means that you are not responsible for any downtime in the future. Recommend a good host and highlight all the benefits of having your own host. Then give them your affiliate link / referal code to make a bit more money / give them a discount.

This is what I do with my clients and they are always happy to pay for the hosting. It is very cheap with someone like Dreamhost.

If they are not willing to get their own host then that is a warning sign that they will be more trouble than they are worth. If they wont fork out though and you are desperate for their business then hosting them on your own hosting plan is an option.

    Thanks wardo.

I'll have them host their site eventually, I just needed to be sure I could ask them to do so first LOL.

Don't be an arse and try to flip something you clearly have no knowledge of against me.
