URGENTLY NEED HELP WITH WORDPRESS

I have installed xampp (apache) and wordpress - that's all fine. However, am trying to change the 'blog' url to a suitable name - localhost is what is showing at present. In blogger, all I did was create a url but wordpress doesn't work the same way.

This is VERY urgent and please explain in english as I am a total idiot when it comes to tech talk.

Have read the 'help' in wp to no avail and searched the web to no avail.

    It is localhost because it will only work and be accessed using your "localhost" ie: not uploaded in a real web server.

    You can however change the blog address if you login to Wordpress admin > Settings > WordPress address or Blog address (URL).

    Note though that if you actually change localhost to something else (ex: an actual domain name), your blog may stop working because it is only meant to work locally.

    wordpress.org is a software meant to be used on a real online web server to create blogs using your own domain.

    wordpress.com is similar to blogger meant to create hosted blogs using a subdomain from wordpress.com

    Thank You Mark You have saved my sanity. I did what you said and voila I now have a blog site with the url as I wanted it to be.
