Web host recommendations?

I'm looking at moving to another web host, but with the market so saturated, it's hard to find a reliable one with good support and reasonable prices. Does anyone recommend a particular host? What I primarily need in the host are these features:

- able to host 6-10 domains on one account
- lots of databases
- able to host 20-40 parked domains
- CPanel
- Fantastico
- responsive support
- reasonable pricing

Any recommendations or experiences (good or bad) are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have had several web hosting accounts and worked with tons for my customers... Unless you can put out money for a dedicated server at Rackspace... I highly recommend Hostgator. For the price, services and reliability, it's unbeatable.

If a site goes down, you get them on live support and they fix it within minutes... and they almost never go down.

IMHO Hostgator is the best for cpanel hosting (shared and dedicated) but if you're comfortable with Plesk then definately consider 1and1.

    • I use hostgator also... BUTTTTTTTT

      a) get your own IP -- it's only $2 more a month.
      b) view their rules for emails. The don't want lists of 5000 more more on their plans. For lists of more than 900, you have to send things out in the middle of the night. and a few other strange things...
      c) I've lost affiliate sales because I was not the last link someone used; I was the first and the sales I lost were from my own clients!

Otherwise, customer servcie is very good.

I might move one of my sites over to AptoHosting.com so that I can move to a hosting company that has more relaxed rules regarding the autoresponder I am currently using that is hosting on my site. They'll give me the baby hostgator package at a reduced rate and not drive me nuts regarding my ezines and autoresponders.

Personally I would go with Dreamhost. Great value and excellent support plus a really good community.

3elevenHost.com looks pretty good. May want to look into it.

Hostgator for most of mine. A reseller account will get you
a cpanel for each site. Makes spinning them off just a bit
easier. The Chinese government has currently blocked all
the Hostgator sites, who knows why, but that is always
subject to change from day to day. I moved my import sites
over to 1and1 and haven't had any complaints with them.

When you hear someone telling you what YOU can't do, they are usually talking about what THEY can't do.

it all depends on what you need.

What range of money do you want to spend?
Do you need a dedicated server? managed or on your own?

My advice is that if you have to pay a bit more for a good support, just do it
