Why does WP hate me? I can't get a new password!!

Ok, so I just created the site yesterday. I KNOW what the UN/PW was that I set up, but it will not work. SO....I tried to reset the password JUST to be certain there wasn't a typo or something when I created it. But unlike any other time I have used the "lost password' feature...it never sends it to me!!!

I have checked the spam box, etc. I even tried it again after a few hours.

Any idea WHY this is happening?

Or is there another way to get into the settings via FTP and reset it there manually?

Thanks for any advice.

Assuming you host the site and WP install yourself (not WP.COM/ free hosting), AND you just did the install with no data on it yet, it might be faster to uninstall/reinstall and make sure you double-check all the UN/PW combos before pulling the trigger.

Never had this problem myself and have done several WP installs.

yeah.. just make it simple: uninstall it then install the new wordpress. it's just a simple few steps if you are using fantastico. how long did you have run the website? if it does not run so far, simply uninstall it and install the new one..

I had added some content, but not enough to kill myself over...so yeah, I will delete and try again.

    Thanks!

You can also change the username and password in your database, that way you don't lose your content or you don't need to install it completely. if you don't know how to do it, send me a PM, I'll help you through it.

Ok, so I tried changing it in the database just for kicks, and it still wouldn't let me login. So I deleted the database, the wp from the site, and everything.

    Started all over.

Everything worked great until I changed the url of the blog to the domain I have forwarded to it.

All of a sudden, I couldn't login again, and this is what the site looks like. I haven't added any themes or anything, no plugins, it just is plain with no theme at all.

    carolinasupersaver.com

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Okay, you say you are changing the URL, what do you do exactly? From what I can see you installed WordPress on superiorbacklinks.com/CSS, is that correct? And then you changed the URL in your wp-admin settings to carolinasupersaver.com, right? If that is so, that won't work. You need to install wordpress on carolinasupersaver.com and not on another domain.

Hmmm...ok. I have done it with about 5 other sites with no issues.

For instance, keyconceptsmktg.com is actually installed on a subdomain of naturalhealthpro.com and then I have the domain forwarded and masked to the subdomain. That one doesn't give me any issues.

I only have ONE of my WP sites actually hosted on the top level domain and that is the one at superiorbacklinks.com

I wonder why some work and this one won't.

I SEEEEEE....I changed it in the wrong place!!!! I changed the WP address instead of the site address in the general settings.

Thanks for making me look into that! I never would have made the connection that I was just putting it in the wrong field. Ug.
