A 403 error is the server denying you access to the web page for some reason or the other.

There could be a number of reasons for this error.

    • You're attempting to browse a directory.
    • There is no content in the directory you're attempting to browse.
    • The entire site is secured and you're getting a 403 instead of a 401. (Doubtful)
    • You are not supplying expected credentials and are therefore denied access.
When attempting to fix this issue you want to start with the first possibility.

Is there an index file in the directory? If not, add one.

Number 2 no content, again add it.

Number 3 indicates other issues that you may have no control over. Get with your host.

Again, possibly a hosting problem. Unless your site is being admined by someone other than you. Then find out what credentials you need.

Those are just some of the possibilities.

The bottom line is that you are not supplying required credentials. Those credentials may be unnecessary if the directory has no index file. Other than that you've got other issues that may be difficult to fix.

    Good Luck,
    Gene
