For a while now...all I've ever used from amazon affiliate program was Amazon Associates...

I just bought Reviewazon...which requires me to go through AMAZON WEB SERVICES...

WHY???

How do they tie together...and how do I make sure I'm getting the commissions..

I don't see a ID anywhere in the link that would suggest I'm receiving credit..

Help please..

Amazon web services is the XML service which allows third-party applications (like Reviewazon) to access the Amazon catalogue and use it to fetch and promote Amazon products in whatever way they like. So you can look up just about anything on Amazon and get back an incredible amount of info about a particular product or category or whatever (including reviews - though that changed a bit, as I mentioned in my reply to your other post). Programmers can use that to create affiliate scripts and entire websites based around Amazon products. That's the connection with Reviewazon and why you need a web service key to access that.

The way things work with the affiliate tag is that you probably supply your affiliate tag in the settings of RA (I don't have it, but all Amazon web service-based scripts work the same way). When RA calls up the Amazon web services, one of the parameters it specifies is your affiliate tag. When Amazon sends back the requested data (e.g. reviews), all the links SHOULD BE tagged with your affiliate tag. And they probably are, there are just a few possibilities:

    1) RA 'cloaks' links so you can't even see the tag, or even that the link leads to Amazon
    2) The link is redirected, meaning the visitor hits Amazon with your tag, and Amazon plants a cookie denoting you as the referer, and then redirects the user to basically the same page, except that your tag is no longer visible.

There is an easy way to check. Click a bunch of links and wait till the following day to see if they show in your Amazon Associates panel. Hope that helps. Like I say, I don't know Reviewazon, I just have a bit of experience with Amazon and their web services.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

  • Markowe explained it very well.

As for your tracking id, you set that up in your amazon affiliate account then add it to your ReviewAZON installation via the affiliate settings page.

If you have any concerns about link validity and if you will receive credit for purchases, you can always run the ReviewAZON links through the Amazon affiliate link checking tool.

Just copy the link on the buy button and paste it into this tool to check your links.
