How do I use RSS reader, hot linking, press pages, YTvideos etc to get contents to my websites?

I decided to post this to the website design group too.... Just in case if anybody's here who could help me. Originally posted this to internet marketing discussion.
So if anyone can help me with this it would be great....
Can RSS reader be used to get contents "legally" from other sites (like images, vids, articles etc etc) to my site? In return for placing links back to these sites and mentioning the origin or how...? Have I understood this right at all?
If so, how do I use it to get contents to my website from other sites? I need to subscribe to RSS feed of the chosen websites I think but what else is needed to be able to place that content to my site? I mean I can't just go and copy/paste any contents right?
Then there are some other terms too that I don't quite understood....
Can anyone share any youtube vids in their sites? I assume you need to ask first from the person who has done the videos right or how is it done..?
Can I use images from press pages that are designed for news use (like entertainment, celeb and show biz) and place them freely to my site? Of course I assume that the source of this image needs to be mentioned but other than that can they be used freely?
What is "hot linking" to image sites? I understood that this is some kind of "grey hat" way but still allowed legally? How do I do it?
I need to get some contents to my sites other than my own original so that's why I ask these. I'd need some kind of coach that would help me with this as I'm little confused here about what to do regarding getting contents to my websites legally that clearly isn't mine....
Everybody else having popular websites and blogs seem to do this - and I have this big question mark above my head at the moment that how do they get that content, especially any entertainment, celeb, gossip and show biz type of content and images that clearly aren't originally theirs. I mean obviously you can just copy/paste but I want to do it the right way from the beginning. And I assume most of the website owners do....
Hopefully someone can help as I really need help with this, I don't quite get this by myself.... !
