Fellow Warriors, I am looking for a very basic wordpress theme that will look like a website not a blog. I would like the theme to:

1. look like website
2. be able to add content without having to do any programming what so ever.
3. don't have to mess with trying to delete sidebar
4. don't have to worry about trying to center my title and subtitle
5. don't have to figure out how to delete my tags and categories from showing on the blog.

I am trying to use the wordpress default theme and the metal texture theme but I am catching hell trying to get the things I just mentioned right. Your help or perfect theme recommendation will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dave

There are hundreds if not thousands of free themes available either through Wordpress or by Googling. When we want a totally different theme we spend time, hours and hours, looking for the ideal theme that suits the niche and then checking them online before making a final decision.

Once, we find the ideal theme, we do spend more time personalizing it.

try these themes: Platform, Arras, Paperpunch

A theme is a matter of personal taste

So try look around at wordpress.org theme page, look for popular themes

Thanks guys for the advice. The problem I have is learning how to edit different themes. If there was a tutorial for the themes that showed things such as removing sidebar, centering the title and things like that I would be good. They make it sound like wordpress is so easy but when you need to edit something you practically have to be a techie to understand what needs to be done.

I really want to learn how to edit these themes but I am getting so many different answers to my problems that are not working. I will push on and continue to try and figure things out. Thanks again for your help.

I know what you mean. When I first had to use wordpress, it was really tough. But I figured things out eventually. I already knew a little bit of HTML so that really helped. Could be useful for you to look up some HTML tutorials online.

If you want to center the thing... 1. go into the coding of your theme 2. find within the coding the text you'd like to center 3. add a <center> tag. (for example.. if you want to center the heading.. find the heading and before the heading add: "<center>" and after the heading add "</center>". The second center with the bar(/) before it is used to end the centering effect.

check out this link to understand better how to center things:

          HTML center tag

this may help when it comes to customizing your sidebar:

but when it comes to removing it completely.. im not sure. just play around with the coding - maybe you can figure it out - or ask someone on a wordpress theme forum. if you do decide to play around with the coding - for whatever reason... make sure you copy paste the original coding and save it in notepad or something as a backup in case you mess up!

          good luck to you!
