    Hi There,

It's great you are in school and would like to learn more about HTML. In order to answer your very broad question, can you ask some more specific questions? Are you just starting? Need to know where to start? What kind of site do you want to make?

    All the Best

One thing you should know that while HTML is widely used, it is being eclipsed by data driven Content Management Systems (CMS) like Joomla and WordPress.

Individuals and companies who want sites increasingly want ones that they can update themselves. People with a CMS site can do that with just an Internet connection and don't need to buy software or pay a consultant to update it for them.

HTML sites offer people little flexibility. HTML is a good thing to know, but not as important as it used to be. In the future, it will be increasingly difficult to make a living if you only know HTML.

Schooling is the best stage of life to start with your Internet Career. If you are very passionate about the field then you must start right away by learning web programming languages like PHP, Javascripts, jQuery, etc.

Later when you leave your school, you will not have enough time for this field!

    Best Wishes!!

When i first started out learning how to create a site in html, i went to htmlgoodies.com and learned from their examples, trial and error, and posting on various html forums asking for help. After i learned html/css it became much easier to get software such as Artisteer to create a template and mod it from there to get the look that i wanted.

Even if you go the route of using some CMS, you still will need a working knowledge of html/css/php to be able to achieve certain results for your site.

Also, right click on sites you like and "View Source" to see how things are structured. you can use Firefox's Web Developer addon to see the html, the css, and even the javascript.
