Critique our new website?

Our company has recently launched a brand new website for the hardware side of our company, it hasn't been live long but we've already managed to reach '#4' for the main keyword "Business Computer Services", we're receiving a decent amound of traffic but we're not receiving any enquiries through our contact forms (they've all been tested though and work fine!) - I've set up an analytics conversion funnel to detect when the contact page is reached (it does get reached), but still - no enquiries.

I'm now down to only thinking it's the actual website - could I have some critisim on the visual and ease of the website so I can determine if this could be a factor as to why we're not receiving any enquiries?

URL: www.businesscomputerservices.co.uk

Thanks,

Liam McArthur

Great looking site, a little cloudy hehe. Seriously it looks very nice in my opinion. Good luck with your business!

Good looking website! However, IMO it does not "scream" business computers services.

I think people expect to see a more "techie" look to such a website. Perhaps this is the reason you aren't getting the conversions you were hoping for.

This is just an opinion obviously....aesthetically your site is gorgeous!

    I agree with discgolftraveler.

The site is awesome graphically, no questions there, very polished.

Where I find the site is deficient is in the marketing message. Practically ALL your content is written in the "we can do this", "our services.." voice.

There are no real examples of the services you offer, no testimonials. I suspect business owners do not shop around for such a service when everything is running smoothly (they should, but do they?), rather when things are broken or don't work quite right. IMHO, the site is not geared towards picking up those clients.

But then again, I am not a marketing expert...

    Cheers,

The confusion I'm having is this:

Between Jan 12th 2011 and Jan 19th 2011 we have had 15 visits on the 'Small Business IT Networks' page - looking at our Analytics, 25.00% of these viewers went to the contact page (yet we had no enquiries), the contact fork is working, visible, simple to use and from my experiences it doesn't look risky or worry me about submitting - hmm.

    Liam,

Perhaps go a step further on the contact page and set an exit pop-up asking why they are going away without filling the form?

don't be too agressive in the popup, rather ask for their help. Something along the lines of " sorry to bother you but we're striving to make our website the best it can be. COuld you please let us know your thoughts on our contact page?"

of course the wording is very important!

    Cheers,
    WP4H

I like it... contact page, you need to put on the far right side of the menu and more people will contact I bet.

You have a very clean website. The only problem is, and I don't know the cause of this problem, but I don't want to stay at your site. It looks cool, it is very professional.

I think you should CAP all the menu items, and change the font of the body text.

This may be a consideration if I perform A/B split testing, using Google Website Optimizer of course.

        If you perform A/B testing?
Everyone should perform split testing, imho.
Are you sure you are getting actual people visiting?

When you do your split testing I would try and list problems that you solve.
If they are at your site, they want a solution. Let them know you can handle it. Managing every aspect is too generic a phrase. Give some specifics of problem solving. They want your expertise, not pretty clouds and the fear of a salesman trying to get their contract. Let them know what you can do for them, above the fold. Do not make them scroll down.
I cannot see any solutions by "browsing" the page. Remember that people browse web pages and do not read the finer print until they find the header that fits their query.
I would bullet point features and benefits and how you can make "their" lives easier. That's why they are there in the first place. Let them know right off that you have the solutions they are looking for. Don't make them read a paragraph to find out, but rather they should know at a glance.

        Nice looking site though.

The best of luck to you.

Site looks very professional and from the pages I've visited on it, seems user-friendly. First thing that came to mind was: Web 2.0!

When I visit with IE8 it looks as if there's a styling problem- the top of the index page (above the clouds) is stretched out, and the page has a horizontal scroll bar, Bottom half is normal.

      Screenshot of error: http://www.warriorforum.com/attachme...1&d=1295494093

AND - when I go to 'contact us' - the boxes for name, phone number, company name, and email address are locked - can't click in them to type. The 'your question' section does allow me to click and type.

(And on the contact us page the horizontal scroll bar is gone and the styling looks normal.)

I also tried with firefox - with firefox it looks and works fine.

Very cool design. A bit busy, maybe - people may get distracted looking at the artwork but it looks professional. I might, perhaps, space the regular type font out a bit, or change fonts to make it more readable.

      My IE8 details here:
      Browser (User-Agent): Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; OfficeLiveConnector.1.5; OfficeLivePatch.1.3; .NET4.0C; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
(and just in case it matters with regards to IE8 - I frequently get the 'you need to upgrade to IE8 warning - even though I have IE8)

Are you sure you're using IE8, we've tested this on multiple machines with 'working' versions of IE8 and it works fine, are you using a beta version?
Also do you have JavaScript enabled? - the majority of the website is JavaScript reliant and works absolutely fine in IE 7 & 8, FireFox, Chrome and Safari.

          Yep - IE8 version 8.0.6001.1899. Javascript enabled.

The 'ask me a question' section allows me to click in all the boxes, on all the pages, by the way.

I went to javatester.org to make sure javascript was working properly and it is, according to that pages testers.

I think the 'upgrade' to IE8 message might be due to erroneous scripts on the pages I visit which tell me that - it seems it's all small time websites which tell me that. Top level domains/services don'ttend to give me the message.

You are targeting wrong keywords, this is the reason you have less inquiries.Try to target computer networking related keywords. You business has also focused target market so you can also try with Google Adwords.

I would say the clouds gotta go, seem to draw attention from whats important and the graphics at the bottom more simplified. All graphics more simplified, too much white color.

Small Business IT Network / Medium Business IT Network / Large Business IT Network

those words seem to blend in with the white clouds too much

just too open looking, the white background needs to be changed to a darker shade

OK just visited your site. And even though it looks nice... I kind of get the feeling I am applying to get into heaven, or buy some baby goods, or maybe I'm visiting a dating site (angels = cupids). As I read the site however it become more obvious that it's a tech site. I think then, as others have commented, that the design, even though it looks and feels nice, is not really giving the right message - which, forgive me if I am wrong, is more hard core - you are Information Technology technicians dealing with hardware and systems analysis and maintenance.

      Cheers.
