Wordprss posts display as extra line at bottom of page

As soon as I make a post active and publish it, it displays the post title as an extra line not only in the side bar under 'Recent Posts' - where it should display it - but also at the bottom of the page under my footer and in big lettering.

Apparently, it does not display the first post as extra line which is a 'sticky' post for the Home Page (and will always appear as the first to be displayed when someone hits the site). But for any subsequent posts after the Home page it will display the first post after the Home post as soon as I publish the post, but not the ones after. So it only displays one post title under the footer.

Have not found a way to suppress this extra line below the footer which I do not want.

Does anyone have an idea how to display the post titles just in the side bar and not below the footer?

    Have you modified one or more of the core theme files, particularly the footer.php file? Try activating another theme, if you have one installed, and see if the problem goes away.

      Thanks for your reply, Piper97. Have only commented out following line in the footer.php.
      <!-- <a href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>">Entries (RSS)</a> and <a href="<?php bloginfo('comments_rss2_url'); ?>">Comments (RSS)</a>.<br />-->
      No other changes were made.

      Have installed another theme and reinstalled the theme that I wanted to use. The problem recurred when I published posts again.

        Did the problem go away with the "new" theme but return when you reactivated the original theme? If so it looks as if the problem is associated with the original theme.

        If the problem is with the original theme then I would reverse the mods you did to the footer.php file (better still, upload a fresh original copy) and see what happens.

    I've had the same problem where the content in a single post will be in echoing as much as 2 times. I remove some plugins and it restore normaly.

        No plugins are active and it still puts the extra line with the post title below the footer.
