Wordpress site static with blog ???

I've got a Wordpress site that I'm using in the "static" configuration. What I would like to do is use the blog features of WP so there is a blog with a menu item for the blog. I guess something like a first page that just list short descriptions that would take you to the full post.

Clearly WP treats "post" differently than "pages"

Is there a way to link a menu item so that it goes to the most recent blog post?

    Well, I don't know what is it what you call "static configuration"... (yes, I am a correct terminology freak!)

    but if you meant you went into Settings > Reading and made a Page as your main/front/home page... then in the same time you should have selected a second (empty=no content) existing Page as your "posts page". That's where your posts will be listed.

    Ahhh... OK. I was just looking at that and it seemed as though it might do what I wanted. I'll set it up and see how it goes.
